This is an online half-semester course on the translation of basic biomedical science into therapies. The topics of the course span pharmaceutical, medical device, and diagnostics development. Development is the process by which the benefits and risks of a medical product are quantitatively assessed. Learning objectives include; Strategic assessment of clinical areas, Compare and contrast development across types of medical products, Regulatory risk assessment by indication, Quantitative understanding of statistics and trial design, Rational safety program design.
