Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Engineering track

The application deadline for MEBE is May 31; students apply at the end of their junior year. Applicants are notified by August 31.

Students may be admitted to the ME track from any of the departments of MIT's School of Engineering. Students majoring in other disciplines with comparable engineering credentials may petition for consideration. All applicants must complete the following by the end of their fourth year:

  • 5.12 Organic Chemistry
  • 18.03 Differential Equations
  • Biochemistry (5.07 or 7.05)
  • One engineering transport or systems subject (e.g., 2.005, 3.185, 6.002, 10.301)
  • Two BME minor core subjects (e.g., 20.310, 20.361, 20.370, 20.371)
Applicants can apply on-line by going to MIT Admissions or by downloading a PDF version of the MIT graduate application. Select HST as the department; under "joint program," use "Biomedical Engineering/Medical Engineering Track."

Candidates should arrange to have an original set of any supporting documentation on paper (letters of recommendation and/or transcripts) sent to:
