A New York Times article featured four recent HST MD graduates – Wataru Ebina, Joseph Rosenthal, Elisa Walsh, and Travis Zack - who participated in a clinical elective course at the Franklin Park Zoo. One Health Clinical Elective: Comparative Medicine in Zoo Environment is a month-long, full-time clinical course open to medical students during their final year of training. Offered through a partnership between Zoo New England and Harvard Medical School, this program is designed to encourage students to think about the commonalities of medicine and physiology of health and disease across all species. Students learn how expanding transdisciplinary collaboration and communication between human and veterinary medical professionals can benefit healthcare for both humans and animals.
