Talk to many different people:
One of the best ways to explore the wide variety of research opportunities is to talk to many different people in our community. Consult with your academic advisor, the faculty who teach your classes, students who have been in the program a bit longer than you have, and anyone who gives a guest lecture or seminar that you find interesting. MD students should definitely seek guidance from their RA program advisor, and MEMP PhD students are welcome to contact tanderso [at] mit.edu (Traci Anderson).
